Newport athletes shone at the legendary Coolangatta Gold held on 6 October.
In a stunning effort, Emily Doyle was crowned the Female Open Short Course Champion; Mitchell Trim came 5th in the Male Elite Long Course; Zach Morris came 3rd in the Male U19 Short Course; Phoebe Savage came 11th in the Female Elite Long Course and Nick Carroll came 4th in the Male 50+ Short Course.
The Coolie Gold is one of the most challenging endurance races on the surf sports calendar, with Long Course competitors taking on a 23km ski, 2.1km run, 3.5km swim; 6.1km board paddle and another 7.1km run. Short Course competitors must complete a 10.5km ski, 2km swim; 3km board paddle and 5.5km run.
