Thanks Newport SLSC for a great swim last Sunday – it was one of my favourites this season and definitely lived up to its title of ‘the friendly swim’. Not only were conditions perfect, your organisation was impeccable… quick and easy registration, free sunscreen, a well-marked course, lots of tasty fruit, helpful volunteers, even free parking. I will definitely be back next year, even if it does clash with Manly!

I was quoted on oceanswims.com for last year's effort & there was a similar standard last year. Only problem I think your efforts should be better rewarded by aiming for no clashes with other swims (Nth Bondi last year, Manly this year). Such a good swim needs to be rewarded with greater numbers. Well done again, however.

What a perfect way to start your Sunday with an Ocean swim!

Everything was perfect for my 1st ever Newport Ocean Swim. The weather was lovely, the locals were so friendly, the organisers were most helpful.

Thanks to Harris Farm for providing the juiciest fruit and the surf club members for a yummy BBQ for a well deserved empty tummy!

Well done Newport, see you next year!

Well Done. Newport had a great swim yesterday. We had a choice yesterday of swims and really happy I chose Newport. The atmosphere was just fantastic, so nice to be away from the city and get out and have a chat with locals and enjoy the great weather, water temp, course, fruit , people , sun and the fun that is ocean swimming and why we all do it.

Look forward to next year and will be letting everyone know how good it was.

Well Done to a club that relies on heaps of volunteers and members who are passionate about their club, it is great to see.

Susan

Thanks for a great day. Fantastic conditions for a swim and a great lucky dip prize! Thanks for the trip:)

I’d like to pass on my Congratulations & sincere thanks to Newport SLSC for the fabulous event they held today. Yes, we were lucky – not a single bluey in sight, ideal water temperature, a perfect Sydney summer’s day (at last) and surf conditions at the start and finish that provided some excitement and the challenge we ocean swimmers like to conquer!

Could it get any better? Yes!

Newport SLSC got it all perfectly right today from the friendliest & most helpful staff I have encountered, abundant fruit & drinks, well organised BBQ, excellent swim safety crew, outstanding array of prizes and entertaining and informative commentary (without blasting us off the beach).

To cap it all off – the free parking was the icing on the cake for me!  Thank you!

Newport has set the bar at great heights for others to follow.

Christina Echols was the lucky swimmer in the Newport Pool to Peak Swim who won a trip to compete in the Vanuatu Ocean Swim in June 2008 thanks to Paul McCoy of Pacific Swims as well as Air Vanuatu and Le Legon who have generously donated this great prize. Congratulations Christina! We hope you have an awesome time!

The annual Pool to Peak was indeed a delightful event, albeit a very exclusive and intimate affair.

Billed as the “friendly swim”, the 2km course was perfect today with a flat sea, sunny skies and a nice wave at the end to speed up the egress. It is possible that from my vantage point, some weren't exactly hurried on by the waves!

The best time of the day went to Harrison Pullinger of Haberfield and Skye Cater of Newport was the fastest female. Watch out for these two, they're aged 15 and 14 respectively!

We awarded medals, caps and Good Guys vouchers to the first three placegetters in each category, plus there were loads of prizes donated by the local business community.

Harris Farm as usual provided race entrants with delicious fresh fruit after the swim; there was fresh water and massage available too!

We'll get some photos up here as soon as they come in, so keep a look out, you might just be a feature on this site!!
