With summer fast approaching we are looking to continue the success of the Mixed open team in 2010. We are also looking at expanding the teams with addition of an open women’s and junior teams.
What is R&R
Well it isn’t Rest and Relaxation as most people would know the term to be. It stands for Rescue and Resuscitation. The competition replicates the traditional training format for the Belt rescue that was contained in the Bronze Medallion course. Prior to 1977 this was the standard drill for all bronze candidates. While the belt is now no longer standard rescue equipment it has a long history of being part of major rescues in SLSC.
The competition is judged on the team’s ability to carry out the rescue drill without any errors with regard to marching, laying the belt, rescuing the patient and resuscitation drill and timing with teams losing points for any errors. The lowest score wins. It can be both physically and technically demanding depending on your role in the team.
